Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum
Operators who fly between FL 290-410 (inclusive) are required to have their aircraft and crews certified to meet Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum, aka RVSM standards. The RVSM program enables vertical separation to be reduced from 2,000 ft. to 1,000 ft, making six additional flight levels available for operations between FL 290-410. RVSM enhances aircraft operating efficiency, saves time, saves fuel, enhances air traffic control flexibility, and provides the potential for enhanced enroute airspace capacity. RVSM is now implemented worldwide.
U.S. Domestic Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (DRVSM)
NexAir can equip and certify your airplane for compliance with U.S. operational policy/procedures for Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) between FL 290-410 (inclusive) in the airspace of the lower 48 States of the United States, Alaska, Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic High Offshore Airspace (including Houston and Miami Oceanic airspace) and the San Juan FIR. Once you’re certified for U.S. Domestic Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (DRVSM), your certification will allow the aircraft to operate worldwide in any ICAO RVSM airspace. Once certified, you’ll also need an approved RVSM maintenance program outlining procedures to maintain your RVSM aircraft in accordance with the requirements of current regulations.
As shown below, with the correct compliance kit, the Garmin G600 fully supports Reduced Vertical Separation Minimums (RVSM) on qualified airframes, providing access to six additional flight levels for operations between FL 290-410 in RVSM airspace.
As shown below, the Alliant Retrofit for the Cessna 441 Conquest II is available with an RVSM option for operators who fly the at or above FL 290, and includes Avidyne’s Envision Integrated Flight Deck System and the S-TEC 2100 Digital Autopilot.
